ANIMATION
About the course
This course was an introduction to animation as a contemporary art form. I used Adobe Creative Software in addition to other industry standard software to create standalone and interactive animations based upon a story or theme. The course began with an introduction to the history, types and basic principles of animation as well as an overview of animation software. I then continued to develop my skills through concept-based assignments.
A Day In The Life Of Zinny
This is a claymation, stop-motion film I made for my final. We get to see a day in the life on a lovable charatcer named Zinny.
Working Up an Appetite
This is a LEGO stop-motion film that I made for my LEGO movie project in animation. A fire randomly starts next to beloved, but drowsy, wildlife. Good thing our heroes are on the way...
Obelus
In this project we had to create a title sequence for a TV show/movie of our own creative conjuring.
VIDEO ART
About the course
In this studio course, I was introduced to the creative, time-based medium of video. The course focused on developing a thorough understanding of the visual literacy used in video art as well as a technical understanding of nonlinear editing using industry standard software. We discussed contemporary video pieces through lectures, as well as an overview of the history of video art. Through editing practices, I learned to manipulate time, space, and sound to create my own personal works in a variety of styles.
Multi-Screen
In this project, I played with multiple channels or screens with in one to tell a narrative and evoke certain emotions.
Transitions
This film is a portrayal of my relationship with religion and how it was affected by my rigorous Catholic upbringing.
Short Narrative
This film is a short narrative of what my typical day looked like in the thick of quarantine, specifically with online learning. I tuned into the small details of everything I see, hear, and experience.
Despondence
For my final project in Video Art, I took a piece of photography from Will Eggleston and creatived an entire narrative around it. Below, is that image I chose, and at the end of my film you will see how it ties in.
